Scaleway states the location plainly: "All Serverless models are currently hosted in a secure data center located in Paris, France", and it commits that models reached through api.scaleway.ai "remain hosted in Europe". One data centre is a clear answer for a French buyer. It is also the whole answer: there is no second region and no deployment inside your own perimeter.

Munito AI is cheaper on each of the three models both platforms serve. Cached input widens the gap: a repeated prefix on DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash-1017 costs $0.0060 per million tokens here.

How to switch
Both platforms speak the OpenAI API, so the move is a base URL and a key.

Tool calling, streaming and structured outputs behave the same way. What you gain is the Anthropic Messages API on the same key, so Claude Code and other Anthropic-shaped harnesses connect with no proxy in between.
Where Scaleway is stronger
- A larger catalog, with embeddings, Whisper transcription and image models beside the chat models.
- One cloud for everything. If you already run Kubernetes, object storage and databases at Scaleway, inference on the same invoice and the same IAM is worth real money.
- A dedicated deployment with a fixed hourly rate, from about €0.93 an hour.
- An automatic prompt cache that the platform persists and evicts by request frequency.
Where Munito AI is stronger
- Lower prices on each shared model, before the cached-input discount.
- The Anthropic Messages API beside the OpenAI Chat Completions and Responses APIs.
- EU, US or global processing on one key, with the region in the
munito-regionheader of every response. See Regions. - A deployment of your own: managed, inside your cloud account, or on-premises. Scaleway serverless is Paris or nothing.
- OCR billed per page at $0.0044, not per token, so a document budget is a page count.
- Decision models: pplx-decider-v1.2 and Cygnet answer yes or no, choice and score questions through the Decisions API.
What a security review will ask
Both answer the residency question well. Beyond that, ask each vendor for the DPA, the sub-processor list and the retention period in writing. Our SOC 2 audit and ISO 27001 certification work are in progress; Scaleway holds ISO 27001 today, which matters if your checklist requires a certificate now.
