# Fireworks AI vs Munito AI

URL: https://munito.ai/compare/fireworks-ai

Fireworks AI and Munito AI side by side for open models: regions, data retention, APIs, OCR, decision models and prices.

Choose Fireworks AI for a very large catalogue, for speed work on dedicated GPUs, and for fine-tuning. Choose Munito AI when the request has to run in a named EU region today, when you want the same prices with a published DPA, or when the platform has to run inside your own perimeter.

Prices and models checked on 2026-11-07. Prices change, so check them at the source.

## At a glance

|                 | Munito AI                 | Fireworks AI                          |
| --------------- | ------------------------- | ------------------------------------- |
| Where it runs | EU, US or global | Not stated; US-only costs 50% more |
| EU region | Yes, the `api.eu` host | Not offered as a serverless region |
| Prompts kept | No | "Zero data retention by default" |
| API formats | OpenAI and Anthropic | OpenAI |
| OCR | PDFs and images, per page | Through vision models, per token |
| Decision models | Yes                       | No                                    |
| Your own cloud | Yes, today | Private preview, Enterprise only |
| On-premises     | Yes, today                | Private preview, Enterprise only      |
| Fine-tuning     | No                        | Yes                                   |

Fireworks states zero data retention by default, which answers half the question. The other half is location, and the serverless price page names no region. A region-restricted deployment costs 1.5x, and US-only serverless carries a 50% premium on the models that offer it, so geography is a paid option rather than a default.

## Prices

Standard tier, per million tokens, input / output, both in USD. Munito AI in the EU.

| Model | Munito AI, EU | Fireworks AI |
| ------------------------ | ------------- | ------------- |
| DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash-1017 | $0.30 / $1.20 | $0.30 / $1.20 |
| GLM-5.3-Flash            | $0.15 / $0.50 | $0.15 / $0.50 |
| Qwen3.8-27B              | $0.20 / $2.70 | Not listed    |
| DeepSeek-V4-Flash        | $0.11 / $0.28 | Not listed    |
| Gemma 4 12B              | $0.11 / $0.33 | Not listed    |

The two shared models cost the same to the cent. **An EU region is not a premium here**, and it is not a 1.5x line item either.

## How to switch

Both speak the OpenAI API:

```python
from openai import OpenAI
client = OpenAI(
    base_url="https://api.eu.munito.ai/inference/v1",
    api_key="munitoai_...",
)
```

Each response names its region in the `munito-region` header, so a single call proves where the work ran.

## Where Fireworks AI is stronger

- **A much larger catalogue**, including frontier open models and many families we do not carry.
- **Fine-tuning**, which we do not offer. If you need a tuned model served, that decides it.
- **Dedicated GPUs billed per second**, with no charge for start-up and a scale to zero after an idle hour.
- **Speed engineering**, which is the company's reputation and shows on latency-sensitive workloads.
- **Reserved capacity** at lower hourly rates on a yearly term.

## Where Munito AI is stronger

- **A named EU region at the standard price**, not a 1.5x region restriction and not a premium.
- **Your own cloud or on-premises, available now.** Fireworks Sovereign is in private preview for Enterprise; ours is a deployment you can ask for today. See [Enterprise](https://munito.ai/enterprise).
- **The Anthropic Messages API** beside the OpenAI Chat Completions and Responses APIs. See [Compatibility](https://docs.munito.ai/compatibility).
- **A DPA that applies with no signature**, at [legal.munito.ai/dpa](https://legal.munito.ai/dpa), and a published [sub-processor list](https://trust.munito.ai/subprocessors) by region.
- **OCR billed per page** at $0.0044, not per token through a vision model.
- **Decision models**: pplx-decider-v1.2 and Cygnet answer yes or no, choice and score questions through the [Decisions API](https://docs.munito.ai/api/createDecision).

## What a security review will ask

The retention answer is good on both sides. The location answer is where they part: ask Fireworks to confirm in the contract which region serves your traffic and what the region restriction costs at your volume, and compare that with a default EU host at the list price.

Then ask both for the DPA, the sub-processor list and the exit terms. Ours are linked above, and the [security review guide](https://munito.ai/security-review) collects the rest. Our SOC 2 audit and ISO 27001 certification work are in progress.
